Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFRPL)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Danners430 tweaks made 05:22, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Recurring and persistent sockpuppetry by WP:YAYSMAY15 sock. This is probably the 5th time this has to be raised this year and it would be better if long term protection be granted. Borgenland (talk) 09:42, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Tough call. In response to your edit, I was referring to contact this edit summary written by a different user... just to let you know.‎ — B.J (talk) 09:53, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Another round of sockpuppetry today [1]. Borgenland (talk) 14:51, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    And another today [2]. Borgenland (talk) 09:41, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High IP level of vandalism, claiming its return of the defunct late-night newscast on ABS-CBN, 6 years after the shutdown. The infobox got ruined but I already manually revert them to this[[3]] edit. BeemoKincaid (talk) 10:26, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Someone keeps adding unsourced additions regarding the upcoming Series 4, so requesting protection for article until mid-late January (which is usually when a new series airs) Visokor (talk) 15:40, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent TA DUCK. See also SPI. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:35, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent sockpuppetry/block evasion, ongoing for several years now. Magitroopa (talk) 17:01, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:27, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry from a large UPE/sockfarm just blocked at WP:Sockpuppet investigations/NC2020. See last 100 edits for how persistent this has been. These 20+ accounts were primarily low edit-count (often sub-10 total edits) SPAs, examples [4][5][6][7] etc., making longer-term semi-protection a useful option here. NicheSports (talk) 17:45, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing. This article was semi-protected following a request nearly two months ago. After the protection expired, TAs continued to add "Brazilian" to the lead sentence. Requesting semi-protection. Thanks in advance, Thedarkknightli (talk) 21:01, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Articles relating to American Horror Story often have issues with sourcing content as we approach a new season. -- Alex talk 21:29, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Many TA’s making unsourced BLP edits regarding death of article subject. She may in fact have died but no reliable sources are reporting on it. Celjski Grad (talk) 12:16, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of ip pov pushing Myuoh kaka roi (talk) 13:20, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – LTA target.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 13:28, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Frequent TA vandalism on BLP ~ crtbob (talkcontribstalk) 15:54, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Numerous recent disruptive edits by temporary users, including adding unsourced genres, [8][9][10][11] deviating from the article's established citation style,[12][13] and citing unreliable sources,[14] citation overkill,[15] or not citing sources at all.[16][17][18][19] Other violations include: [20] (WP:NOR, WP:V, WP:NPOV), and [21] (Trivial content).

These disruptive edits have posed problems for skilled editors like myself who are trying to expand the article, resulting in excessive time spent on reverts and corrections. The subject of the article is an album which has recently been released, and therefore consistently needs to be updated with newly sourced information. Because of the problems identified here, it is making it unnecessarily difficult to add correctly sourced and verifiable information while having to contend with the consistent disruptive editing from temporary users. Zirthes (talk) 16:05, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Edit war with blatant violation of 3RR occurring in the lead. Neither side seems to want to give up or come to consensus, either. A day or so of FP protection would help to calm things down a bit, I hope. Ilov3gam3z (talk) 16:43, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated unconstructive edits from anons. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 17:07, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Already protected but LTA socks are still getting through. Protection should be changed to pending changes.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 17:44, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Influx of pro-Mosley editors attempting to whitewash his image. Salmoonlight (talk) 19:17, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Page has been continually targeted by TA socks of WTillman29. The Grand Delusion(Send a message) 19:17, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Contentious topic as the deadly 2026 Azad Kashmir protests, led by this group, are escalating. WP:CT/SA Roshan Jatt (talk) 19:21, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. WP:CT/SA does not apply preemptive protection either. Yue🌙 (talk) 02:19, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Frequent target of WP:LTA/HABS. The Kip (contribs) 19:29, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Frequent target of WP:LTA/HABS. Existing semi-protection has been overcome by LTA using registered accounts. The Kip (contribs) 19:30, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Subject to an unreliable rumor that this sports person has been transferred to another club. Persistent addition of this despite the WP:SPORTSTRANS banner by TAs Publicwalrus (talk) 19:37, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Subject to an unreliable rumor that this sports person has been transferred to another club. Persistent addition of this despite the WP:SPORTSTRANS banner by TAs Publicwalrus (talk) 19:38, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – An editor, under multiple IP numbers and SPAs has been conducting a slow-burn edit-war to remove a properly sourced entry from this list. If you review the history it has been going on since April 9th (the edit is easy to track through the edit history because it always results in a 1,279 bytes deduction). Suggest semi-protection for a couple of months and see if that breaks the cycle. Betty Logan (talk) 20:32, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Nswix (talk) 20:58, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Aleain (talk) 21:14, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Still an LTA target. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 21:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. The LTA targets the article infrequently and in short bursts. If this article was protected for any amount of time, they would just move on to a different article during the protection period. It is best to block socks when spotted rather than protect articles they target non-persistently. Yue🌙 (talk) 02:21, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Many temporary or brand-new accounts semi-frequently vandalizing the page, either deleting content, not adhering to WP:NPOV, or making uncited/libelous claims MovedRemote (talk) 22:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Vandalism after lapse. Nswix (talk) 01:08, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Permanent extend confirm protection Article related to the Israel-Arabic conflict Loc863 (talk) 01:50, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Parts of this article are related to the conflict. The country as a whole isn't. * Pppery * in solidarity 02:45, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Resumed sockpuppetry/block eviasion via Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Son of Zorn. Also worth noting this resumed immediately following the most recent page protection lasting from April 29 to today. Magitroopa (talk) 01:51, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – For some reason this page keeps getting vandalized occasionally per the edit history. It's not too bad though, so I think pending changes is enough. Justjourney (talk | contribs) 02:10, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Yue🌙 (talk) 03:05, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations. Binksternet (talk) 04:27, 30 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Reason: Like my last request, this is no longer needed as this was mostly used to prevent LTAs to moving the page to Grawp-like titles (e.g. H..A..G..G..E..R..?). This is how Grawp spells Hagrid's name in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film from 2007. Because JarlaxleArtemis is an LTA that is no longer active, I recommend and suggest removing the protection or even a step further to removing the move protection of this page (extended confirmed would be okay for the Hagrid request). — SimpleObjects-9ei 🏖️/☀️/🥵 (see talk) 21:39, 27 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    (Non-administrator comment) Pinging protecting admin @Number 57. Entranced98 (talk) 17:15, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Reset pending protection: Low reject rate edits by new or TA users with the last rejected edit being on 26 July 2025. Being the only rejected pending edit of that year, the page doesn't seem to be attracting controversial BLP edits in the long-term.~2026-41989-38 (talk) 20:29, 29 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]
