Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors
| Please submit error reports only for content that is currently or will imminently appear on the Main Page. For general discussions regarding the Main Page, use its talk page. |
National variations of the English language have been widely discussed previously:
|
To report an error in content currently or imminently to appear on Main Page, use the appropriate section below. Reports should contain:
- Where is the error? An exact quotation using {{!xt}} of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible using {{xt}}.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 09:04 on 27 July 2026) and cannot be adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Actual errors only. Failures of subjective criteria such as taste or interestingness, or failure to divert enough DYK readers to articles that aren't new or recently improved, are not errors.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

[edit]Please change Cincinnati, Ohio. to Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Wikipedia should not be seen to be US-centric. Thanks, Kiwipete (talk) 03:20, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Arguably no state or country name should be included since Cincinnati is one of the 29 cities exempt from MOS:USPLACE. 1brianm7 (talk) 06:06, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Two sentences later reads:
The company is considered the first in the US to produce electric toy trains
. (my emphasis). Seems reasonably sufficient for that purpose to me, and could be construed as redundant if the proposed change is implemented. Left guide (talk) 06:11, 27 July 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Errors in "On this day"
[edit]In the births and deaths section, Martin Walser died July 26 not 28, according to that article, with German references in the article body. I could remove Walser but I haven't had good luck determining if replacements are acceptable to everybody. Art LaPella (talk) 01:20, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Of the five sources cited in the article for his death, this one says 26th, this one says 28th (by saying "Friday"), and the family obituary says 28th. Another one doesn't seem to state a specific date and the other one is paywalled. Left guide (talk) 05:42, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
