Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection). After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.
Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Reason: Mr. John Wahl is the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor in Alabama. The AL Republican party held its primaries on May 19th, 2026, with the run-off (Mr. Wahl was a part of the run-off) being held on June 16th, 2026. Around those dates and as well as the last couple of weeks, a plethora of editors have come through making various edits to the page, some innocent, others to paint him in an overly negative or overly positive light.
At least from the date this request is reviewed, until AFTER the general election occurs on November 3rd, we request Extended Confirmed Protection (ECP) for Mr. Wahl's page.
We request this level and duration of protection as the View History indicates an uptick in mass edits and deletions occur around the election dates, and we would like to prevent that to maintain as accurate a page on Mr. Wahl as possible.

Reason: Several temporary accounts have been persistently adding the incorrect description that it is a "comedy horror" when the franchise has never been a comedy series and the film itself, when compared to comedy horror like Shaun of the Dead, is decidedly NOT a comedy. - (Non-administrator comment) That could well mean semi-protection is doing its job. The associated talk page has seen several instances of juvenile disruption since protection, presumably from kids who would otherwise have vandalized the article itself, suggesting there is still a risk of problems returning. This is not a low-traffic page (average of 464 daily views over the past month) and it cannot be confirmed that there are a reasonable number of watchers.
