Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Repeated vandalism from temporary accounts. Gebble (talk) 20:32, 27 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes: Persistent disruptive editing. Niasoh ❯❯❯ Wanna chat? 20:50, 27 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Please see WP:GS/RUSUKR. Most recent edits are about the war. Mellk (talk) 20:54, 27 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – TA hopping unsourced birth year change; possible logged out editing involved. In solidarity, Jalen Barks (Woof) 21:19, 27 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection Page has been protected multiple times throughout 2024 and 2025 due to an IP editor constantly changing sourced information about the band’s name. This month, the edits began again. Their reason provided for the changes is that the sources provided are wrong but no other source is provided to back their claim. Reason: High level of temporary account vandalism surrounding her views on Transgender athletes in women's sports: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. 2 Week Semi Protection would do here. Servite et contribuere (talk) 00:34, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Will leave CTOPS notice on talk per WP:CT/BLP and WP:CT/GG Daniel Case (talk) 07:42, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Persistent sockpuppetry/block evasion via Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Agustin Sepulveda Venegas 2004 Fan. Magitroopa (talk) 02:26, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Same user (different TAs) is repeatedly adding unsourced polling information, the user has resorted to just spamming random references to make the polling appear sourced. Traumnovelle (talk) 03:27, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 03:35, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: consistent vandalism by fresh accounts. Someone seems to be really annoyed that there is a reactions section. and has been trying to remove it repeatedly over the past few days. CautiousHabliut (talk) 04:26, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Danners430 tweaks made 05:22, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:CT/CASTE. In solidarity, nil nz 06:32, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent vandalism by User:Timelash and related socks over more months and probably years than I care to consider... Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 07:02, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Danners430 tweaks made 09:15, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Recurring and persistent sockpuppetry by WP:YAYSMAY15 sock. This is probably the 5th time this has to be raised this year and it would be better if long term protection be granted. Borgenland (talk) 09:42, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Reason: Like my last request, this is no longer needed as this was mostly used to prevent LTAs to moving the page to Grawp-like titles (e.g. H..A..G..G..E..R..?). This is how Grawp spells Hagrid's name in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film from 2007. Because JarlaxleArtemis is an LTA that is no longer active, I recommend and suggest removing the protection or even a step further to removing the move protection of this page (extended confirmed would be okay for the Hagrid request). — SimpleObjects-9ei 🏖️/☀️/🥵 (see talk) 21:39, 27 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The controversy involving him isn't really discussed anymore, he's not as active as he was two years ago, and the amount of unsourced content added has rapidly decreased in the past two years. So why is ECP still needed? MathMan4 (talk) 00:04, 28 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Please add the following comment to the ongoing talk page discussion regarding the lead section phrasing and Political Zionism on my behalf:

Hi everyone. I have followed this whole thread closely, and it seems the discussion is losing focus with the debate over Cultural versus Political Zionism. The core issue here is WP:NPOV and how we accurately reflect historical facts in the lead section without synthesizing a narrative.

Zero argues that because the Basel Program had underlying political goals like a future state and an army, the word "settlement" is incorrect and "colonization" is justified. With respect, this is a massive leap and borders on WP:NOR. Seeking political sovereignty and the ability to defend oneself does not retroactively turn a movement into a colonial enterprise. Those are the standard characteristics of a national liberation movement.

Let us look directly at the primary source being discussed. The First Zionist Congress (1897) formulated the Basel Program using explicit German phrasing regarding "Besiedlung". The direct and accurate translation for "Besiedlung" is "settlement". If the early Zionist movement viewed itself purely as an imperial colonial project, the German language has the word "Kolonisation". They chose Besiedlung. Insisting on translating Besiedlung as colonization in the lead section simply to force a modern critical framework onto the text is a severe violation of neutrality.

Furthermore, equating Political Zionism with colonization directly contradicts Tier 1 mainstream scholarship. A defining feature of actual colonization is the existence of a metropole or a mother country that extracts resources. Scholars like Derek Penslar clarify that Zionism fundamentally lacked a metropole, as it was a movement of refugees and diaspora Jews returning to their ancestral homeland, not an empire expanding its borders. Similarly, Gideon Shimoni thoroughly demonstrates that Zionism is fundamentally an ethno-nationalist movement for self-determination and national revival, rather than an imperialist venture.

Yes, Political Zionists wanted a state. But seeking self determination in a historical homeland without a mother country is national revival, not colonization.

Presenting the term "colonization" as an undisputed fact in the lead gives WP:UNDUE weight to the Settler Colonial paradigm. That paradigm is a highly debated critical theory in sociology, not the primary historical consensus of what Zionism is. The lead must reflect the mainstream consensus. We need to replace the word with "settlement" or "national revival" so the article finally complies with WP:NPOV.
