The 1992 Chilean Military Parade was held at O'Higgins Park in Santiago on 19 September 1992 to commemorate the Day of the Glories of the Army.[1][2]
The military parade was attended by President Patricio Aylwin,[3] the president of the Senate and Army commander-in-chief Augusto Pinochet, with contingents of the Chilean Armed Forces and Carabineros de Chile participating in the ceremony.[1][2]
Parade
[edit]The parade was commanded by Army Brigadier General Guido Riquelme Andaur, who appeared on horseback for the first time.[2] Aylwin arrived at the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by Defence Minister Patricio Rojas.[3]
Among the features of the 1992 ceremony was the return of sailors from the Alejandro Navarrete Cisterna Sailors' School to the parade after an absence of more than twenty years. The Naval Infantry also presented its military band for the first time during the parade.[2]
The Chilean Air Force Aviation School appeared in a new uniform, while the ceremony continued with the traditional presentations of the military and police institutions.[2]
An archival recording preserved by the Alberto Hurtado University documents Aylwin's attendance alongside the president of the Senate and Pinochet.[1] A separate complete recording also preserves the ceremony and its military presentations.[2]
