Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFRPL)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. LuniZunie(talk) 05:30, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Constant vandalism on page by obulom, okrika,Kalahari and ijaw people on the pages.trying to change the facts about the history. It has just recently been corrected now,but I fear it might be vandalized again.leave it the way it currently is now and lock for at least a period of one year. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruption by block evader. Squeakachu (talk) 06:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Because of recent Moroccan immigrants entering Ceuta illegally, this article may be harmed or vandalized. Kumaoni Painter talk 09:12, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

The few recent cases of vandalism on the page appear to all be from the past couple of days and are almost certainly related to the migrant incident there yesterday (there are also a handful of good faith anonymous edits from the past day or so), so I feel temporary (~1 week) semi protection would be a much better way to go. The page has been protected a couple of times before, but only for 3 days in 2015 and 1 week in 2018, the latter of which was 8 years ago.

Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – As one user has repeatedly recreated this template under multiple names, please set to require at least WP:TPE to create if not admin only. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 14:05, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Repeated addition of unsourced info mostly by TAs. As this is related to a recent event, they're like moths to a flame. 10mmsocket (talk) 15:58, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite pending changes protection: Persistent Vandalism. Continuous vandalism by TAs and new users. I'm not sure whether pending changes protection or semi-protection is more appropriate, whatever you think is best. — Raihanur (talk) 16:10, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: TMZ reported his removal from metal band Slipknot (band) last night. As there is no other source, not even a statement by the band or Wilson himself, his membership status should not be changed in accordance with WP:TMZ. Nonetheless, IP editors keep making such changes, to the band's page and their members list at List of Slipknot band members as well. So I'm requesting protection for those three, at least from IP editors please. Seelentau (talk) 16:10, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Also, this page is having edit war. VitorFriboquen :] (Talk) 17:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

This continues to happen, both at Sid Wilson and List of Slipknot band members on here. Mostly by IPs. Seelentau (talk) 22:28, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

User(s) blocked. I blocked a drawerful of socks and it stopped. Article is already PC protected; additional semi would only be needed if frequent disruption started up again and was hard to stop. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 22:36, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Probably falls under WP:ARBPIA at this point given the Dem primary. ~2026-42714-29 (talk) 18:42, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

XCP is only prescribed for articles that are primarily or wholly about the Arab-Israeli conflict. It isn't warranted by default for articles where coverage of the conflict is incidental or secondary, such as an article about an election in the US. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Look out it's Jimothy! 18:48, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Pending changes protection: Persistent addition of unsourced/poorly-sourced material + sockpuppetry + vandalism. TA edits are rarely consecutive in this article. So I think it would be a good idea to put all non-autoconfirmed edits under review. Giovanni Potage (talk) 19:31, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – TA hopping vandal. at least 3 today. Jackjd0 (talk) 19:53, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: I'm requesting semi-protection for say one month. This article is about an ongoing event involving migrants, some of whom have died. There is a risk of vandalism and misinformation on this important topic. SmallPneumatic (talk) 22:02, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – a bunch of people keep re adding an irrelevant goblin like image. i think it is because of this tumblr post (https://www.tumblr.com/t4timekeeper/823695913159655425/why-does-the-wikipedia-page-for-paranoid?source=share) which has gotten 1.5k reblogs in the past day. tumblr aggressivley commits to the bit so this will likely continue- but like a week long protection will probably stop it. Jackjd0 (talk) 22:15, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 22:31, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Semi-protection A current event, I think there could be a potential edit war since this page is an ongoing event and is featured in the news on Wikipedia's Main Page Loc863 (talk) 22:23, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Reason: Like my last request, this is no longer needed as this was mostly used to prevent LTAs to moving the page to Grawp-like titles (e.g. H..A..G..G..E..R..?). This is how Grawp spells Hagrid's name in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film from 2007. Because JarlaxleArtemis is an LTA that is no longer active, I recommend and suggest removing the protection or even a step further to removing the move protection of this page (extended confirmed would be okay for the Hagrid request). — SimpleObjects-9ei 🏖️/☀️/🥵 (see talk) 21:39, 27 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Unprotection: 8 years have passed since this should have been an issue, seeing how there's been no disruption basically on the other lists of deaths of Wikipedians by year in more recent years, unprotection should be okay. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 07:07, 31 July 2026 (UTC)reply

See the instructions. You're supposed to contact the protecting admin before making a request here. In this case that admin is Oshwah, who is active today. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 14:34, 31 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Unprotection: WP:TRYUNPROT. It was indefinitely protected in 2010 by a now deceased admin due to "problems with a banned user." I think that after 16 years the disrupting user has lost interest on this page. MrCleanAd (talk) 08:46, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Unprotection: WP:TRYUNPROT. Semi-protected since March 2015 due to vandalism, though disruptive edits were not coming through at a particularly high rate, and there is no history of any other previous protections being needed. Given this and the page traffic (averaging 367 daily views over the past month), a period of PCP could be trialled. Protecting admin is deceased. Entranced98 (talk) 14:20, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Unprotection: Article was protected in 2021 over sockpuppetry and edit warring on subject's DOB. The issue seems to have long since been settled, so there does not appear to be any need to keep the article protected any longer.
