| Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
|---|---|---|
|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection). After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.
Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – As has repeatedly been the case, the page is under attack by a group of temp accounts that change sourced information (specifically plug listings) without sources and without comment, and ignore all invitations to discuss. , , , , .
Since the page has been haunted by similar problems for years, I suggest indefinite semi-protection. Gawaon (talk) 07:24, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Note that this may be related to the long-term SPI case of ImprovisedAlphorn7281, whose socks have repeatedly shown similar editing patterns on that page. Gawaon (talk) 07:35, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – As per WP:ECRCASTE. Ekdalian (talk) 08:28, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IPs are back after last protection. They keep on doing these edits based "on their own count". Dieter Lloyd Wexler 17:30, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent and repeated disruption by an account-hopping sockmaster. Blake Gripling (talk) 03:34, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Page was autoconfimred protected in June after I made a request about the near-constant flurry of temporary accounts who leave WP:FORUM comments, usually in Hindi (such as this recent edit). The protection expired in September, and the storm has started up again. I think a (more?) permanent protection is needed, because otherwise, it's just adding more busy work to have to revert these. wound theology◈ 04:12, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite pending changes: Persistent disruptive editing – Hastein appears in two Crusader Kings video games. For years, an unnecessary "in popular culture" bit has been added. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 07:20, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Reason: High level of edit warring over whether a recently passed member of the group is still considered an active member, mostly from non-account users. RandomEditsForWhenIRemember (talk) 13:00, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite full protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated adding of unhelpful Angry Birds trivia to lead. GnocchiFan (talk) 13:21, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Indefinite full protection seems a bit too much! — Malcolmxl5 (talk) 14:15, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent changes to erroneous birth date by IP editors. Propose permanent protection since problems return after previous time-limited protections expired. Marbe166 (talk) 13:38, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent disruption and unexplained removal of sourced content. The page has suffered 2 instances of blanking/vandalism this year in February and October, including a disruptive blanking of the lead paragraph. Requesting semi-protection to secure the article. - (Non-administrator comment) +1 PCP also didn't work here (virtually nothing accepted). Given the nature, frequency and history of the vandalism, this is probably a perennial school kid target and therefore better off protected for good. Entranced98 (talk) 14:57, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Reason: This page has been subject to disruption multiple times today. It was briefly hijacked, and two subsequent edits by another user have had to be suppressed.
Would semi-protection (or any edit protection at all) be appropriate for this page? – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 16:57, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – This page has been heavily contested for months/years and is controversial. Recent temp account edits have removed large amounts of text and engaged in edit wars. This is not the first time this has happened. GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 20:29, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- lets semi indefinitely. Specifically to the article long history of contention not only that it falls under Wikipedia:Contentious topics. Best we let experience editors work out a consensus over having meat puppets and anonymous editors always causing a problem. Non auto confirmed editors are free to make edit requests. Declined – Pages are not protected preemptively. Simply being 'related to Palestine' does not make an article fall within CT/PIA. One small section does; the remainder does not. - The Bushranger One ping only 03:39, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
Create protection: Repeatedly recreated – created at least 4 times in the last month. Twice CSDed and once XFD. Need protection. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:33, 3 October 2026 (UTC)

Reason: Many TAs making changes to the medal table, seemingly to show support for their country of origin, which I can understand, but WP:NPOV. The relevant diffs are here , here, and here. Also got TAs that keep changing the name of the event, see here (2026年、日本は中国と「不倫」関係に = "In 2026, Japan will have an "adultery" relationship with China") and here (日本対中国の試合 = "The match between Japan and China") machine translation as provided. Unfortunately the games are ending on the next day so the protection would be short, but I suggest pending changes protection or semi-protection for 48-72 hours (2-3 days). Current requests for reduction in protection level
Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Requesting reduction in protection to pending changes, page was inf semi-protected over 3 years ago. The page also desperately needs updates and allowing more people to submit edits may help solve this. Szxq (talk) 05:21, 25 September 2026 (UTC)

I wanted to add a section to the Greek alphabet talk page requesting the addition of a list of three-letter Greek letter name abbreviations, which are used in astronomical software (example: Stellarium) and websites (example: SIMBAD). But the talk page can't be edited. I no longer attempt to edit article pages myself because the Wikipedia rules are too complex for me, so now I just request changes and let the experts handle it.
