Is the title of the game a reference to the ending of WarGames the film? 64.246.153.174 (talk) 04:29, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
War games
[edit]The movie Wargames came out only a year before so it is likely that the game was a work in progress before the movie came out and they named it as a reference to help sell the game.MorganTrib (talk) 15:17, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

How About A Nice Game of Chess? → How About A Nice Game of Chess! – If you take a look at the game's cover, it is "!" and not "?". Cyfal (talk) 12:39, 19 September 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. In solidarity, Iseult Δx talk to me 18:30, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Support. It's obvious from the cover art that the name is spelled with an exclamation point. JIP | Talk 15:04, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
- Support. Of the four (two are the same and one was removed from archive.org) sources in the talk header, two (Washington Apple Pi, Hardcore Computist) use a question mark, and the other two (Info-64, Commodore Microcomputer) use an exclamation point. Together with the cover image, the version with the exclamation point wins WP:COMMONNAME. This should be noted in the article, obviously. —Leaf.Sheap ⇖ /.°°.\ ⇗ (They•Them) 16:04, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: Huh, what do you know. I'm sure I saw it somewhere with the question mark and went with that, and the cover was added later. I'm fine with either way. BOZ (talk) 16:59, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
- Support, I think the above comments have elaborated enough. I do think it might be useful to make How About A Nice Game of Chess? into a redirect.

- The "a" in the title (like the "o" in "of") should not be capitalized under the MOS. Dekimasuよ! 01:13, 21 September 2026 (UTC)
- The book itself capitalizes "A" for some reason. In solidarity, Grilledcheeseisgreat ✉ 01:15, 21 September 2026 (UTC)
- This is stylization, not a question of changing the content of the title to something else, so we should follow MOS:TITLECAPS and WP:NCCAPS and downcase the indefinite article. We could add a note that says "stylized as How About A Nice Game of Chess!" to the lede if necessary. Dekimasuよ! 02:10, 25 September 2026 (UTC)
- But then isn't the exclamation point also just a stylization? The words do form a question, not an exclamation. Station1 (talk) 21:08, 25 September 2026 (UTC)
- Technically a tag question can end in an exclamation mark, but since our MOS is mostly concerned with things that tend to be written out in an encyclopedic tone, I assume it is agnostic on what punctuation to use here. The Chicago Manual of Style has a section that notes: "Exclamation rather than question: A question that is essentially an exclamation usually ends with an exclamation point."
