Recent addition to Architecture section

[edit]

Hi there, everyone. I recently added a comparison photo of Spring and Pitt Street showing the vast transformation of Victorian heritage to modernism but it was removed for being unsourced and editorial. I was wondering if it could stay in the article if I provided a citation discussing Sydney's lax heritage conservation in the late 20th century when this corner was redeveloped.Ashton 29 (talk) 00:29, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Time to add an FAQ section to this page regarding native Aboriginal names?

[edit]

I'm thinking of adding an {{FAQ}} template to the top of this page to make it easier to refer to regarding the fairly persistent additions of native names like Gadigal, Warrane, Eora to the lead and/or infobox, as the talk page archives are difficult to navigate, especially for new editors. And the relevant discussion is very long.

Not sure how to word it yet as I didn't participate in the original discussion and have only skim read it, but a rough draft as follows:

"Q1. Why aren't native Aboriginal names for Sydney mentioned in the article's lead section or infobox?

A: Consensus found in previous talk page discussions (Talk:Sydney/Archive 10#sydney name) has determined that names such as Gadigal, Cadi, Gadi, Eora and Warrane are imprecise to refer to the city's entire metropolitan area and do not necessarily correlate with modern geographical boundaries. Reliable sources do not typically use these as alternative names for the modern city of Sydney. These are however, discussed in the Sydney#Toponymy and Sydney#History sections." This sounds good to me. Thanks for suggesting this. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 03:42, 20 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
