Nilpotent semigroup

John of Reading (talk · contribs) can you please explain why you did remove the name «nilpotent semigroup» ? That's the word used by Pin's textbook. And unless you claim it's not a valid reference, then this name seems as legit as nilsemigroup. In particular your description «Typo/general fixes, replaced: archimedian → Archimedean, fixing a red link.» is really misleading. Removing one of the alternative names of the object is not a minor modification. Anyway, I add this name back. Arthur MILCHIOR (talk) 14:26, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

@Arthur MILCHIOR: My edit on 18 October did this, changing the red link Archimedean into the blue link Archimedean. The next change was a month later when an anonymous editor rewrote the first sentence. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:43, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Nil vs Nilpotent

This article appears to conflate the definitions of nilpotent semigroups (where S^n=\{0\} for some positive integer n) and nil semigroup (every element is nilpotent). These definitions coincide in the finite case, but not in general. Sophomaniacal (talk) 22:37, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
