Change "American far-right political commentator, author, and conspiracy theorist. She has promoted conspiracy theories on a wide range of subjects throughout her career.[1][2] Since 2023, she has espoused antisemitic conspiracy theories.[a]" to "American political commentator, author and conspiracy theorist. She has promoted conspiracy theories on wide range of subjects throughout her career. She has been described conservative or far-right."

I think we should be objective and unbiased while describing an individual's view. So based on britannica and news outlets like the nyt, she is more of a conspiracy theorist and had been described conservative by some oulets and far-right by others. Yidu123 (talk) 03:04, 23 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
"The lead mentions 'conspiracy theories' three times, creating redundancy. More importantly, it selectively labels only the antisemitic subset while omitting demographic labels for her other conspiracy theories (Macron, Hollywood, etc.). This is inconsistent. Owens is notable for TPUSA, Blexit, and Red Pill Black—not primarily for antisemitic conspiracy theories. The lead should either use general terms throughout or apply consistent demographic labeling to all her conspiracy content." Chicabonita661 (talk) 21:03, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Candace Owens and antisemitism

[edit]

I will provide further proof of her espousing antisemitic conspiracy theories from her show transcripts, just putting this in here for now. She is anti-Israel, but that is due in large part to her also being antisemitic. I am Jewish and do not agree with what Israel has ever done, but I'm not antisemitic. There is a difference and I know a lot of Jews that feel the same way as I do. Candace has pushed and never apologized for pushing, antisemitic conspiracies, and has done "soft-holocaust-denial" which is antisemitic, by making statements that the Holocaust was not as bad as it was, and stating that Dr. Mengele did not perform the experiments on Jewish prisoners at Auschwitz that he did perform. If I must, I will provide transcript evidence from her shows, later. I am busy right now, but caught wind of this going on over here. GishgallopGirl (talk) 15:35, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not needed. Those transcripts are a WP:PRIMARY and WP:SELFPUBLISHED source. They could be a source for “Candace said X”, but they could not be a source for “X is an antisemitic conspiracy theory”. That leap is what we call WP:SYNTH. Presumably, she’s never said on her show “The following statement is antisemitic and it is a conspiracy theory that I am spreading”.
But we don’t need any of that, because we already have plenty of WP:SECONDARY sources that say something to the effect of “Candace Owens has espoused antisemitic conspiracy theories”. The line has WP:CONSENSUS for inclusion, so if anybody removes it, we can just put it right back. (In order for it to be removed, someone would have to start a discussion on this talk page and achieve consensus to remove it). Mikewem (talk) 15:53, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Fair! Thank you for the explanation! GishgallopGirl (talk) 18:22, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Are you people retarded seriously. Is that a new word antisemitic conspiracy theories!!! Conspiracy theories are conspiracy theories . Using the word antisemitic because you don't like what they are saying is not how you deal with it. Do you go around attaching the word racist to people who have said something that is racial in nature. Blacks are known for their big cocks. Am I a racist or just saying something about a race. And why do you think that news outlets and media use the word to describe someone. I understand that antisemitism has a never ending definition so 🤷‍♀️ Chicabonita661 (talk) 13:36, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Cool it with the antisemitism, Chica. Eseseso (talk) 11:54, 11 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
To clarify my earlier point: the lead already calls her a "conspiracy theorist" and notes that she has promoted conspiracy theories on a wide range of subjects. Adding the specific "antisemitic conspiracy theories" right after it feels redundant and places a highly contested label in the very first paragraph.I am not proposing to remove the information entirely. Instead, I suggest keeping the lead general:
"She has promoted conspiracy theories on a wide range of subjects throughout her career."
And moving the specifics to the existing
Conspiracy theories
section (or a subsection) in the body, where they can be properly explained, attributed, and cited with context. For example:
"Since 2023, several conspiracy theories promoted by Owens have been described by the ADL and other organizations as antisemitic." Chicabonita661 (talk) 09:14, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No consensus for this change. Andre🚐 16:05, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Indeed there are many sources and there is a consensus to include the line. Andre🚐 17:40, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
how about this
Since 2023, she has promoted conspiracy theories that CNN, The Daily Beast, and the Anti-Defamation League have described as antisemitic.. Chicabonita661 (talk) 18:03, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No. Andre🚐 18:38, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Generally, wikivoice can be appropriate for claims widely reported in reliable secondary sources. Are there reliable secondary sources that seriously contest this claim? ◦ Sibshops (talk) 19:24, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Was there a count done for how many podcast episodes were considered Antisemitic conspiracy theories and for the love of God she is not antisemitic. Ok I'm fine but it is just so obvious what is going on here. She started as Red Pill Black on YouTube and then met Charlie at a conference or something in Florida and he hired her. Then they spent like literally 2-3yrs on the road, driving, flying and doing as many events as possible. But yeah she is not known for conspiracy theories. She's known for debating on college campuses. Chicabonita661 (talk) 21:24, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No. She has repeated antisemitic content many times on her current show. She was not ever much of a campus debate person, not in the way that Shapiro or Kirk were at one time. You keep coming with all of these assertions but they lack proof. I don't know what you need to hear, so I'll quote one of those other guys, "facts don't care about your feelings". Please work to provide proof and if you can't find it, maybe study why that is, with Occams Razor as your guide to the truth.
Per your other things mentioning Macron and Hollywood, her "work" on those has also been used as antisemitic hack material. The Macron material was used several times to promote a conspiracy she alleges is a scheme to birth, control, and create world leaders that would be friendly towards systems of control and/or Israel. She claimed the same of Barack Obama. As for Hollywood, she has claimed time and again is run by a "cabal" or "gang of Jews".
I am not trying to antagonize you here, but it is clear that you aren't actually familiar with her assertions on this subject. GishgallopGirl (talk) 05:33, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
The current lead states Owens has promoted "conspiracy theories on a wide range of subjects throughout her career," then immediately specifies "antisemitic conspiracy theories" since 2023. This creates redundancy—"theories" is mentioned three times in the opening paragraph—and selective emphasis. If the antisemitic theories are part of the "wide range," they do not require separate mention. If they are distinct enough to warrant specific labeling, then per WP:NPOV and WP:LEAD, the opening should either apply consistent demographic labeling to all conspiracy types or remain general with specifics reserved for the body. Requesting review of this structural inconsistency. Chicabonita661 (talk) 05:56, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
The Anti Defamation League can surely not be upheld as a reliable source. They accuse practically anyone Who criticising Israel of being antisemitic. They're an extremist organization in their own right. ~2026-40875-34 (talk) 04:00, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
exactly. If she is racist against Jewish people or people who practice Judaism then just put racist. The labels are getting ridiculous. But thank you for your comment Chicabonita661 (talk) 05:55, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I disagree and think the current "antisemitic" label matters and should stand as-is. Antisemitic thought and practice are specific forms of racism against Jewish persons. Candace Owens selectively engages her racism in this way. She uses specific antisemitic dog whistles in her work, often citing antisemitic sources or theories or lies for her stated viewpoints on several topics and across platforms. I see no actual counter-argument here. GishgallopGirl (talk) 12:07, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
As far as the ADL is concerned, their bias in favor of Israel is notable (and i do not agree with their stance, as a Jewish person myself) but their work is what matters here. What sourced statement of theirs on the topic, do you disagree with? GishgallopGirl (talk) 12:08, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Update to Education Information

[edit]

Hello, I would like to request an update to the Education section of this article. Candace Owens has stated in a recent interview that she returned to the University of Rhode Island and completed her bachelor’s degree. The current article still reflects older reporting that she dropped out and never finished. The 2022 Commencement also lists her as her married name Candace A. Farmer.

Proposed correction: Update the Education section to reflect that Owens later completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Rhode Island.

It doesn’t seem to be updated. Here is the link to the original podcast where Candace explains she graduated. The relevant part starts at 46:49

Wikipedia articles rely on sources independent of the subject of the article. You are asking for a change based what the subject of the article herself has said. We would need a better source than that. -- Pemilligan (talk) 22:37, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I watched the section you mentioned. Candace claims yet again to have 2 degrees. Yet going through the actual listing at the URI material yields no results for both English and Journalism which she has claimed in the past to be degreed in. Claims require proof. Candace herself has never provided proof of these claims. GishgallopGirl (talk) 12:17, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

"Add in background and education, Candace graduated from URI with a double major in English and journalism."  Done Was looking unlikely initially, but found her listed under her married name in the URI's 2023 Commencement Program publication listed as "Requirements completed in 2022" against a B.A. Would still need a source for the Journalism degree though. https://web.uri.edu/commencement/wp-content/uploads/sites/1303/Commencement-Program_2023.pdfIVORK Talk 15:22, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pushing for reversion on Education

[edit]

I've said this before, but there is no proof that the Candace A. Farmer listed on the URI website is actually Candace Owens. Her current legal name is Candace Amber Owens-Farmer, not Candace A. Farmer.

Candace herself has provided no proof of her graduation status, and has often claimed to have 2 degrees in English and Journalism without proof of such being found. Please revert the change that was made. GishgallopGirl (talk) 12:26, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Agree that the graduation program is WP:PRIMARY and insufficient for this claim.
And even so, being listed in a commencement program is not proof that the person received a diploma. Mikewem (talk) 13:00, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Mikewem:The 2022 and 2023 commencement program publishings from URI details Candace A. Farmer under Bachelor of Arts with the 2023 version including which denotes Requirements completed in 2022. Also noting that URI lists their Journalism and English degrees as both falling under the Bachelor of Arts. From this I take it as enough to be allowable through WP:PRIMARY guidance per A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source.
@GishgallopGirl: As to her name not being proven enough, the majority of sources 1 2 3 as well as the underying Australian High Court documents 4 & 5 all list Candace Owens Farmer hence how she is described as Candace Amber Owens Farmer in the article lead, not hyphenated. — IVORK Talk 06:45, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Fine, I can agree to leave the hyphen out. But, that still doesn't make her the same Candace A. Farmer that graduated URI in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts. In fact, I think it argues more strongly against her being the same person, since she is going legally by Owens Farmer and not simply Farmer. I don't know if that was the point you were making or not, just how I call it.
And a Bachelor of Arts does not in itself mean a Journalism or English or specific degree. It's vague. GishgallopGirl (talk) 19:53, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agree that the RSs IVORK presented strengthen the evidence that “Candace A. Farmer” is neither a common name nor the legal name of the subject of this article. Therefore, it’s WP:SYNTH to say that the Candace A. Farmer listed in the program(s) is the Candace Amber Owens Farmer of this article. Mikewem (talk) 20:32, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
