Paraguayan Guaraní (Paraguái avañe’ẽ) is the most widely spoken dialect variety of the Guaraní language. It is regulated by the Academy of the Guarani Language.
It is also mentioned as "modern Guaraní" or "colloquial Paraguayan Guaraní", which is different from the pure or closed Guaraní used by the indigenous people. It is used mainly by 77% of the population of Paraguay, many of whom are mestizos or criollos, that is, non-Guaraní people.[2][3][4][5]
This country is one of the few almost completely bilingual nations in the world, as many Guaraní speakers also use the Spanish language.[6][5][3][2] It is very similar to Correntine Guarani, spoken in the north of the Corrientes Province, Argentina.[7][8]
