Hey, would it be possible for this log to say it is also stewards, I know that this log also lists action from Special:userrights which is used by stewards. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 23:37, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done. Cheers. --MZMcBride 02:10, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've reverted. Steward actions show up on the Meta log (m:Special:Log/rights, which is already linked from the message), not here on Wikipedia, so here it really is a log of 'crat actions and nothing else. --ais523 15:41, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Dash

[edit]

Please replace the three spaced hyphens ( - ) with spaced en-dashes ( – ), per the Manual of Style. For consistency...

Also, why is that date blue? It looks like some sort of substitute for the appearance of date-linking; personally, I consider it redundant. Waltham, The Duke of 20:59, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done For consistency and not because of the Manual of Style. I don't really think the MoS matters outside of content namespaces. - Rjd0060 (talk) 22:10, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
They are two sides of the same coin really; Wikipedia has a house style, so it makes sense to display and promote it through the system announcements and warnings. I know the MoS technically only applies to the mainspace, but if the official pages do not follow it, who will? Waltham, The Duke of 22:20, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Define link target. Please change course coordinators to course coordinators Mlpearc (open channel) 18:05, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Adding event coordinators

[edit]

Due to the addition of the event coordinator user right in accordance with this RfC, please change:

This is a log of changes made by bureaucrats, administrators, and course coordinators to user rights.

to:

This is a log of changes made by bureaucrats, administrators, course coordinators, and event coordinators to user rights.

Done Nice catch. I put EVC before course coordinators as that group is deprecated and won't be adding any more entries. ~ Amory (utc) 20:01, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I trimmed it a LOT more, see edit summary. — xaosflux Talk 20:14, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux: I think the intent of the material there was to be clear that only locally-initiated changes to user rights could be found in the log – do you think there's a more concise way of saying that? Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 04:03, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@L235: how is it now? — xaosflux Talk 10:23, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Looks good to me! Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 12:57, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please change the entire message to

This is a log of changes to user rights performed locally by users ("manual" changes) or by system rules ("automatic" changes). You may enter either or both of:
* Performer – the name of the user who changed the rights (just their name)
* Target – the name of the user whose rights were changed (written with the prefix <kbd style="background-color: #f8f9fa; color: #000000; border: 1px solid #eaecf0; border-radius: 2px; padding: 1px 4px;">User:</kbd>)

The list of user groups and their associated permissions is on Special:ListGroupRights.

The log does <strong>not</strong> show:
* Changes of rights by stewards (such as checkuser and oversight user rights) – see the meta global rights log (Enter usernames like this: <kbd style="background-color: #f8f9fa; color: #000000; border: 1px solid #eaecf0; border-radius: 2px; padding: 1px 4px;">User:Doe@enwiki</kbd>)
* Local rights changes made prior to 24 December 2004 – see Wikipedia:Bureaucrat log.

... to use semantic markup, avoid extra indentation with colons, a MOS:DASH fix, and wikilinks m:Stewards. Thanks! (The styling on the <kbd>...</kbd> borrows the CSS for <code>...</code>.) HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 01:13, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please change this page to the version at User:Graham87/sandbox32, which updates the help text to note that user rights changes from stewards are now mirrored here per T6055 (example), and also changes "prior to" to the simpler wording "before". Thanks! Graham87 (talk) 16:40, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
