Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rpp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Most of the article appears to fall underWP:CT/IMH. FDW777 (talk) 10:36, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite pending changes protection: Persistent vandalism. Netstars22 (talk to me!) 11:24, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – As one user has repeatedly recreated this template under multiple names, please set to require at least WP:TPE to create if not admin only. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 14:05, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Repeated addition of unsourced info mostly by TAs. As this is related to a recent event, they're like moths to a flame. 10mmsocket (talk) 15:58, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite pending changes protection: Persistent Vandalism. Continuous vandalism by TAs and new users. I'm not sure whether pending changes protection or semi-protection is more appropriate, whatever you think is best. — Raihanur (talk) 16:10, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: TMZ reported his removal from metal band Slipknot (band) last night. As there is no other source, not even a statement by the band or Wilson himself, his membership status should not be changed in accordance with WP:TMZ. Nonetheless, IP editors keep making such changes, to the band's page and their members list at List of Slipknot band members as well. So I'm requesting protection for those three, at least from IP editors please. Seelentau (talk) 16:10, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Also, this page is having edit war. VitorFriboquen :] (Talk) 17:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Ladies and gentleman, what we have here is yet another case of Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. Giovanni Potage (talk) 19:40, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

This continues to happen, both at Sid Wilson and List of Slipknot band members on here. Mostly by IPs. Seelentau (talk) 22:28, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Asilvering has WP:SEMIed this page from editing and WP:XCed it from moving for a year. --Prothe1st (leave me a message)-- 06:01, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent unsourced additions of a possible football transfer. • Quinn (talk • it/its) 17:19, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Pending changes protection: Persistent addition of unsourced/poorly-sourced material + sockpuppetry + vandalism. TA edits are rarely consecutive in this article. So I think it would be a good idea to put all non-autoconfirmed edits under review. Giovanni Potage (talk) 19:31, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Vandalism by WMF-banned Astrawiki3203. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 20:04, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply

    User:Astrawiki3203 now did sockpuppetry you mean? Loc863 (talk) 23:58, 1 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I don't think one instance of disruption is enough for protection. Astrawiki usually moves on to other pages once it gets protected. --Prothe1st (leave me a message)-- 06:06, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. In solidarity, Jalen Barks (Woof) 04:14, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – This page has been the site of a month-long edit war involving users restoring the edits of a blocked user. The singular purposes of the subsequent accounts, the restorations of those specific edits, and the block imposed on the user whose edits they're restoring suggest that they're sockpuppets of that user being used to evade that block. In any case, however, I believe this behavior is disruptive enough to warrant page protection. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 04:16, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Vandalism edits by TA/IP Address. Gunther :  Talk  04:58, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protection: Over the course of about a month and dozens of edits, several accounts have made and restored edits that add large amounts of what is likely AI-generated content to this article, as illustrated by this first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth edit from each associated account. These edits apparently introduce unverifiable claims, promotional content, fictitious citations, and formatting issues. Despite receiving several warnings and having the edits be reverted, new accounts emerge to restore the edits and make similar ones. Because of the length of time this has been occurring, as well as the large number of associated accounts, I request that this page be semi-protected. Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Long term and persistent addition of unverifiable original research by temporary users. Go D. Usopp (talk) 13:00, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

If you look thoroughly at the edits, you'll see the OP is actually the one doing the original research by attempting to change neutral content with POV-pushing material not even supported by the sources. ~2026-38398-77 (talk) 14:37, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Temporary editor's additions have repeatedly failed verification. An X link is a poor quality source, and there is no other source indicating that Data East is not involved in its development. Go D. Usopp (talk) 15:45, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – An IP user keeps on coming with different temporary accounts and continues bolding a certain section in the lead "Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management Department (EV&DM)" unnecessarily. It's not per MOS:BOLD. I tried contacting them in all instances to get their inputs on this. No response has been received. Even their edit summary doesn't say anything. Reason: The school has closed according to official sources but multiple accounts are edit warring and attempting to remove this factual and sourced information. I request that this page be protected as it's otherwise going to be tampered with, while I can understand why the staff and students feel distressed about this, Wikipedia must remain factual Have a great day , Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 17:26, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Unprotection: 8 years have passed since this should have been an issue, seeing how there's been no disruption basically on the other lists of deaths of Wikipedians by year in more recent years, unprotection should be okay. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 07:07, 31 July 2026 (UTC)reply

See the instructions. You're supposed to contact the protecting admin before making a request here. In this case that admin is Oshwah, who is active today. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 14:34, 31 July 2026 (UTC)reply

@Anachronist not necessarily only contact admin first you can also do – ping–@ to Oshwah he will respond on this page either this have two options either contact to protected admin or ping instead which ever one. ~2026-42820-77 (talk) 05:38, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Pinging is not approprate. You are only supposed to post here at all only if the protecting administrator is inactive or after you have already asked them and have not received a response, as the bright yellow highlighted text at the top of the page, that is still not read by far too many people, says. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:09, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Unprotection: WP:PREEMPT violation. Zero history of disruption of any kind. An indef goldlock on a redirect with no history is ridiculous. Electricmemory (talk) In solidarity 11:47, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

You had to experience the disruption lived in 2009 to understand the reason why it was protected. I'm not saying the protection is needed now, though. Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0) 20:14, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

In the lead paragraph it says "hostilities began after US–Israeli airstrikes...". The strikes were clearly a hostile act, so it should say something like "with" or "when" (depending on how the rest of the sentence is adjusted).
