I'd like to propose creating a navbox for this and the articles in Wikipedia:Good topics/Red Dead Redemption 2. Since all articles in this topic have GA status at the minumum, I think a nice, cohesive and consistent way to link them across pages would be good.

The relevant docs here is WP:NAVBOX, and I believe this group of articles satisfies all the requirements set out there.

Examples of other 'Part of a series...' naxboxes are Template:Philosophy sidebar and Template:Formula One.

I've made this navbox in my sandbox, and I've transcluded it here despite it throwing an error, but otherwise have a look here: User:SnowyRiver28/sandbox

I'll add this to the relevant articles if we reach a consensus here. SnowyRiver28 (talk) 09:50, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for making this proposal and the draft on your sandbox! Personally, I'm not entirely sure a sidebar is necessary, since there's already a navbox that covers all of the articles sufficiently, but I appreciate the vision and would love to hear others' thoughts. Thanks for your comment, I did see the pre existing navbox, but in my experience as a reader those types aren't super appealing or noticeable. I was thinking since all the RDR2 articles are so well written (being at least GA if not FA rated), it would be worth bringing them all together in a nice showcase for readers to fully appreciate the best of Wikipedia here. Is the graphic permitted in the navbox? It is obviously for decorative purposes. Seasider53 (talk) 10:39, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I couldn't see anything prohibiting a graphic in WP:NAVBOX, and other pre-existing navboxes use images too, plus there's an image field built into the template. SnowyRiver28 (talk) 10:47, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate the thoughtfulness behind the idea! Ultimately, I think navigation is better served through the navbox, especially since there aren't too many articles and most are linked to each other already, but that's just my 2¢. Rhain (he/him) 10:49, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'd have to agree with this sentiment. I'm of the opinion that the purpose of navboxes and sidebars is navigation, not the highlighting of good or featured articles. The current template is sufficient for navigation to related topics, and a sidebar may be redundant as it contains the same list of articles. Additionally, I did a quick search into major franchises (Mario, Final Fantasy, Harry Potter, Zelda) and found that these articles solely use a navbox and not a sidebar. Narrative focus in the plot section

[edit]

The plot summary seems disproportionately weighted toward a chronological list of gang activities in Chapters 2–4, while Arthur Morgan’s character arc receives relatively little attention until Chapter 6. Since Arthur is the protagonist and his changing relationship with Dutch is central to the narrative, would it make sense to expand portions of the summary dealing with his growing disillusionment and condense some of the repetitive descriptions of robberies and gang operations? The current version feels more like a summary of the gang’s exploits than of the game’s narrative focus.

Chapters 2–4 are compressed into a single paragraph covering Valentine, Rhodes, the Grays and Braithwaites, Bronte, and Saint Denis, while Chapter 6 receives significantly more detail. Is there a reason for this distribution, or could the summary be reorganized to better reflect the overall narrative structure?

Arthur Morgan is the protagonist, yet much of the summary is written from the perspective of the gang as a collective (“the gang does X”, “the gang does Y”). Since the game is experienced through Arthur’s perspective and his character development is a major focus of the story, the summary may underrepresent that aspect of the narrative. I think your concerns actually highlight why the section is structured that way. Even in the game, the early chapters are largely focused on the gang's exploits, whereas Arthur's arc (especially his changing relationship with Dutch) comes to the forefront much more in chapters 5 and 6; that's why the latter receives more coverage here, despite taking up less time in the story overall. We don't really have room to expand the summary, though it can be adjusted or rewritten where necessary. Rhain he
