Xshift AI

Xshift AI is an American software company that develops artificial intelligence-based workforce scheduling software. It was founded by Noah Marbach, an Atlanta-area high school student, after his experience working in restaurants and other shift-based jobs led him to focus on employee scheduling.

History

XShift AI was founded by Noah Marbach while he was a student at Pope High School in Cobb County, Georgia. Marbach had worked in restaurants and retail and observed that managers frequently spent substantial amounts of time preparing employee schedules. Its software uses natural-language commands to generate and modify employee schedules based on factors including availability, time-off requests, employee roles, preferences and overtime considerations.

He subsequently taught himself basic computer programming and began considering applications of AI to restaurant operations. His initial concept involved an AI chatbot through which restaurant managers could create employee schedules. He tested the concept by speaking with restaurant managers and asking about their scheduling practices. He later used Anthropic's Claude Code to develop the software. He provided the coding system with a detailed prompt and used repeated interactions with the system to develop the application. The publication described the development process as an example of the emerging practice commonly referred to as vibe coding.
