Wray Serna is an American fashion designer and entrepreneur based in New York City. She is the founder of WRAY, a size-inclusive women's clothing, swimwear, and accessories label, and is a co-founder and chief design officer of Cloth.
Early life and education
[edit]Serna earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design from the California College of the Arts, where she also studied painting and drawing, and completed additional coursework at the Parsons School of Design in Paris.[1]
Career
[edit]After finishing her studies, Serna relocated to New York City, where she worked for Issey Miyake and interned with designer Rachel Comey before striking out on her own.[1] Earlier in her career she also co-founded a clothing line called Ambit. In 2015, Serna launched WRAY, a contemporary womenswear brand headquartered in New York, offering identical styles across sizes ranging from XXS to 6X.[1][2] Rather than grading up from a sample size, Serna developed the brand's fit standards by working directly with customers across the size range to gather body measurements.[2] In March 2025, Serna announced on social media that WRAY would wind down operations, citing personal health challenges, and the brand's Manhattan store closed that June after a decade in business.[3][2]
Recognition
[edit]Serna has been included on lists recognizing inspiring women in STEM fields, in connection with interdisciplinary design and materials work associated with the Fashion Institute of Technology.
