The operas of the month for December are works Luigi Cherubini and one by Gaspare Spontini which need expansion and improvement:

• Cherubini: Médée seems to consist largely of names of performers, with very little about the opera itself
• Cherubini: Les deux journées an early 'rescue' opera, needs a lot more background
• Cherubini: Lodoïska is scarcely more than a stub
• Spontini: La vestale, the composer's most celebrated opera, does not even have a synopsis
