The Academic Journals project assists in transcription of important journal articles to Wikisource. An excellent example of this is an independent effort at Wikipedia:WikiProject Banksia/Sources.

Images should be placed into a new categories on Commons for each journal, sub-categorised into commons:Category:Serials, periodicals and journals
Top level journal indexes on Wikisource should be placed into s:Category:Academic journals or s:Category:Magazines.
