Basal metabolic rate and Resting metabolic rate

[edit]

What's the difference between Basal metabolic rate and Resting metabolic rate? Benjamin (talk) 06:39, 2 January 2017 (UTC)reply

BMR must be measured under conditions of PERFECT thermal equilibrium, whereas RMR doesn't have to be. 2601:646:8E01:7E0B:F88D:DE34:7772:8E5B (talk) 06:57, 2 January 2017 (UTC)reply
Why are they two separate articles? Benjamin (talk) 08:17, 2 January 2017 (UTC)reply
Because they are different things? --Jayron32 19:23, 2 January 2017 (UTC)reply
They seem really similar. Benjamin (talk) 06:23, 3 January 2017 (UTC)reply
They are similar, but we don't put all similar concepts into the same article. WP:SPLIT and WP:MERGE are our relevant guidelines. I think it is proper to have separate articles in this case, but you could discuss merging at the talk pages if you want, and you'll get some explanations of why we have two.
