Ges. gesch.

[edit]

Schlenkerla Rauchbier bottles say "ges. gesch." on the label. What does it mean? JIP | Talk 22:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)reply

Googling the subject yields "Gesch is an abbreviation for "Gesetzlich Geschutzt" and is the German equivalent of a trademark, copyright or patent, as seen in the United States. The translation of Gesetzlich Geschutzt literally means legally protected." ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots23:15, 2 January 2020 (UTC)reply
Actually "gesetzlich geschützt", lowercase and with umlaut. Jmar67 (talk) 02:31, 3 January 2020 (UTC)reply
Yes. The source had it capitalized, but since neither word is a noun, capitalization would seem to be incorrect. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots02:49, 3 January 2020 (UTC)reply
