[edit]Do functions of keyboard shortcuts depend on type of keyboard? For example, in QWERTZ keyboard, are functions of Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y swapped compared to QWERTY? In some applications, Ctrl+[ and Ctrl+] have functions, but as in Finnish keyboard, there are Ö instead of [ and Ä instead of ] right to L, so would they be Ctrl+Ö and Ctrl+Ä in Finnish keyboard? And what when it comes to non-Latin keyboard, How are Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y handled in Cyrillic keyboard? --40bus (talk) 00:49, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

- and also according to language. In Windows in Spanish, some applications search with Ctrl+F (from "Find") and others with Ctrl+B (from Buscar.

- The Colemak keyboard likely exists for this reason. Its a mix of Dvorak and QWERTY, keeping the usual keyboard shortcuts in similar places. JuniperChill (talk) 18:33, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- I've tried non-Latin layouts before (i.e. Tamil 99 and Tamil InScript), and for keyboard shortcuts (as Tamil doesn't use Latin), it just falls back to QWERTY mappings on most devices. But in Linux (what I use on my personal device), it falls back to Dvorak mappings in InScript (probably because that's what the terminal's keyboard layout is set to). thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 18:36, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
