Template talk:Wikify

It was decided at the TfD in August that once Category:Articles that need to be wikified had been cleared, this page should be converted into a dab page similar to Template:Expand. So now the category's finally empty, can someone replace the entire content of the page with the version in Template:Wikify/sandbox? Thanks. DoctorKubla (talk) 15:52, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

How was the category cleared? Did someone use AWB to reclassify them into other templates now listed at {{wikify}}? Superm401 - Talk 18:16, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

For each of my edits where my bot or I used AWB to add {{wikify}}, I removed it and added {{underlinked}} or wikilinks if needed.

When I noticed that other people added {{wikify}} in December or January, I did the same thing, and also posted a message on the user's talk page to let them know that it has been deprecated. If the user had an older version of AWB, I encouraged them to download the most recent SVN snapshot. GoingBatty (talk) 18:30, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

why?

Why (and since when?) was this template deprecated? Why not keep it along with the more specific templates and make it the feeder category, like {{cleanup}}? I liked using wikify, and it's a heck of a lot easier to remember than all these more specific templates. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 19:53, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Bah. Was this advertised other places besides TFD? Seems like a template that's used on more than 10K pages should be discussed in a larger venue. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 16:36, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

If I'm not mistaken, it was advertised on every one of those 10K+ pages. The TfD template adds a notification to every transclusion of the template under discussion. DoctorKubla (talk) 17:43, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
