Removed category

[edit]

I went ahead and removed that welcomebot research category from the template. I'm assuming this is something from a while back, but I think it'd be smarter to simply transclude an invisible template (much like how {{NoAutosign}} works). That way newbies don't have a weird category on their pages. Lemme know if that was a horrid idea. or if an actual bot uses it. --slakr(talk) 10:10, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Me

[edit]

This doesn't seem to work properly unless you provide it with the parameter 'me'. Is there a way to fix that? I just posted it to someone's talk page and then had to go back in and edit out the link to [[User_talk:{{{me}}}]]. --Masamage 00:58, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Add article input?

[edit]

Hello all, Would it be possible to add an input on the template that would coordinate with Wikipedia:Twinkle so that I can quickly add the article where I noticed a new user to the welcome message? Thanks! | :) |

Template update/simplification

[edit]

Should the overhaul at Template:Welcome cookie/sandbox be implemented? (and which color should the icons use?)

I've tried to make it more approachable while cutting down on the wall of links and providing a clear entry point, hopefully it can help our new editors! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 12:41, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Well, I suppose I'm biased, but I do rather like the revision proposed at ; no opinion on icon colours. GreenLipstickLesbian💌🧸 04:48, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot! Should I go ahead, given the lack of other feedback? Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 14:27, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Change pic to File:Christmas_Cookies_Plateful.JPG 🐈Cinaroot   04:59, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

The current image seems fine to me. Do you have a good reason for this change? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:26, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes — the image I proposed has 20 cookies. The current one has 6. New users deserve better. I motion we upgrade immediately. 🐈Cinaroot   07:12, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also we have a gingerbread man, Chocolate chip cookies, Frosted sugar cookies etc...

Completed – please note that this new image will only appear in new usages of this template. Old usages will retain the old image. P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  16:13, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I preferred the old image though. :( The chocolate chip cookies are just so iconic, and used on other welcome templates. Plus it's warm toned, which is friendlier, which fits in with the entire idea of giving somebody welcoming cookies; this one is cooler, which is colder and more utilitarian. GreenLipstickLesbian💌🧸 04:10, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Change it back? At least until there's consensus for a different image? GreenLipstickLesbian💌🧸 04:47, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

A tie-breaking vote might be needed, so I'll state that I'm in GLL's camp here. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:53, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Changed back – notifying editor Cinaroot. P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  07:13, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
