Rename?
[edit]I was initially a bit alarmed to see a category I created and use tagged as "polluted"; perhaps this template could be better renamed as, say, "Non-polluted category" or "Exclude from polluted category report"? - I agree - it's counter-intuitive that putting {{Polluted category}} on a page removes that page from Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories. Perhaps something like "Legitimately polluted category" ? PS I'm not sure that many of the categories with this tag really need it. DexDor (talk) 06:09, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- I agree that this needs a less alarming name. From this discussion, it appears the (primary?) purpose or this template is to keep non mainspace pages out of reader-facing categories. So I was thinking to suggest calling it {{Maintenance category}} but there is already such a template. But if I correctly understand the purpose of {{Polluted category}}, maybe it can or should be merged with {{Maintenance category}}. ~Kvng (talk) 16:34, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
