PSID

[edit]

This seems overly simplified and I don't see how to exclude categories, templates or other configurations of PetScan. How about making all parameters optional and adding a PSID field that would run a more complex query? It would make maintaining the template easier since adding a few additional excluded templates or categories could be done in PetScan and all for updating the PSID field or am I missing something here? Relying on the PSID would also help with support for when PetScan changes, queries shouldn't break if the PSID has a permalinked behavior.Wolfgang8741 says: If not you, then who? Seems reasonable. I've added an optional |PSID= param that will override any |catX= or |templates= values. Primefac (talk) 18:38, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Format parameter

[edit]

Hello. I really like the template. Would it be possible to have an additional |Format= parameter so that one could specify a PSID for a pre-canned query but change the output format? As described in the documentation: expand programmatically on a previous query, by "overwriting" parameters: https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?format=wiki&psid=PSIDwill run the same query as before, but the output format will be wiki (instead of default HTML, or whatever was chosen originally). I like developing the query with HTML output, but then being able to run it and output to a PagePile for futher analysis. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 20:27, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
