Superseded?

[edit]

This template appears to have been superseded by [Template:OSIstack]. Any reason for keeping this one around? --Kvng (talk) 22:04, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

The template/box is important to keep as a reference model of OSI. [Template:OSIstack] is not general enough and not orignal to supres this one. --slash (talk) 19:22, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Should we add Layer 8?

[edit]

Is Layer 8 not on here for some reason? is it disputed? or should we go ahead and add it to this template? Mapmaker345 (talk) 16:40, 12 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Reverse order from lowest level to highest level, top to bottom

[edit]

What's the motivation behind putting the highest level (application layer) at the top instead of the lowest level (physical layer)? Should the order be reversed? BthompsonHV 17:38, 23 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion of IP-suite protocols

[edit]

The layering of the Internet Protocol suite is often contrasted with the OSI model. Are there any strong sources (preferably university textbooks) backing this classification of non-OSI protocols (mainly ones from the IP suite) into the OSI layers? ~2025-40167-37 (talk) 19:20, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
