"Status" field

[edit]

Seems to me a better display name (as well as field name) for this parameter would be "ownership" as forests may sit on either publicly-owned or privately-owned lands. Would there be any objection to changing the "status" field and display names to "ownership"? My name is Mercy11, and I approve this message. 01:42, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

No objections for 20 days, so DONE. My name is Mercy11 (talk) 19:24, 26 August 2013 (UTC), and I approve this message.Reply
Actually, take that back: Something went wrong and it didn't work. Perhaphs someone else can look to make this change,,, since there have been no objections. My name is Mercy11 (talk) 12:46, 27 August 2013 (UTC), and I approve this message.Reply

Map vs. picture

[edit]

Something interesting happened while working with the forest infobox at THIS article:

As long as there was no picture in the infobox (it hadn't had a picture for years) the map displayed at the top of the infobox just before the Geography section as it would be expected. However, today I added a picture of the forest to the infobox, and the image of the map jumped to the very bottom of the displayed infobox, after the Ecology section. This position makes no sense. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks,

You're right: it doesn't make much sense. I moved the map to be at the head of the Geography section (if there's a photo) —hike395 (talk) 05:43, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Removing call to Invoke:Coordinates.dms2dec

[edit]

Hi. I'm planning to remove the call to Invoke:Coordinates.dms2dec as per the discussion here. I already updated the sandbox page last night, but forgot to leave a note on this talk page. Unless anyone has objections, I will commit the update sometime on Friday night. Thanks. gnosygnu 02:49, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

As per the earlier comment, I updated the page now gnosygnu 16:56, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mapframe?

[edit]

Is there a reason why this template doesn't accept mapframe? 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 11:12, 15 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

There was [a reason], but not any more there isn't, after I persuaded a template expert to add it. Now it does.
I will update the doc page within the next 24 hours. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 20:20, 15 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Zackmann08 had already updated the doc so I just needed to include a mapframe call in the example.  Done 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 22:18, 15 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pushpin map cleanup

[edit]

As part of a larger refactor of Module:Location map, I will be refactoring the way that this Infobox calls the location map code. The only noticeable change for most will be that the parameter names related to the pushpin maps will now all start with |pushpin_...=. This is part of a larger effort to make things consistent across Infoboxes. When this is done, ALL infoboxes using pushpin maps will use the same parameters. For more information about this, please see this post. As part of this cleanup, I am also going to resolving any conflicting parameters that I can find and cleaning up parameter names that fail to conform to MOS:INFOBOXNAME. Note that this follows a long list of similar clean ups that I have done on countless other Infoboxes. The parameters I plan to replace are the following:

Deprecate Replace with
|map= |pushpin_map=
|relief= |pushpin_relief=
|label= |pushpin_label=
|label_position= |pushpin_label_position=
|coords= |coordinates=
|map_width= |map_size=

Please chime in below with any questions, comments or concerns about this cleanup. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:37, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
