Revive?

[edit]

I bet we could revive the plain old {{imdb}} template by making it use "#if" statements, and still not have to go change all the uses all over the place. The default behavior would be to use "name" but if they say "title=" or "company=", etc, it would go to the right place. —Fitch 20:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suggested re-target

[edit]

It seems the appropriate target for this redirect is the poorly named {{Imdb disambig}}. I would recommend moving the {{Imdb disambig}} template to {{Imdb}}. Or if that move is opposed, I would recommend moving the {{Imdb disambig}} template (possibly to {{Imdb (disambiguation)}}) and re-targeting {{Imdb}} there. —Zach425 talk/contribs 09:01, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

#REDIRECT [[Template:IMDb]]

"Imdb" is an ambiguous name and should not be used to link biographies on IMDb. This page should be reredirected to {{IMDb}}. I've fixed all mainspace pages where this template was used incorrectly (about 80 pages out of 800). jonkerz ♠talk 15:19, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

What about the 62 transclusions in other namespaces? Have they been reviewed? Anomie 15:52, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I changed a few user space transclusion and checked for transclusions on "live" non-mainspace pages (i.e. other templates, project space etc.), but I haven't touched any stale user drafts, archives or older non-archived discussions. Links breaks all the time (e.g. links to ANI threads), so I don't feel it's worth the effort. I can do it if you think it's needed. jonkerz ♠talk 16:13, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Done Ok, good enough for me. Anomie 16:33, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

imdbcompany

[edit]

Hello, anyone watching? Would it be possible to make a company version for instances like ? They're not many, but they exist. I tried imdbname, but then it links to the wrong page. FYI ping to @Michael D. Turnbull Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:16, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm no template expert but I reckon that it should be easy to modify {{IMDb name}} to do what you want, given that it will link to a similar URL based on the parameter. There are not many watchers here but let's hope.... Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:37, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Or an "IMDb other". Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:41, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Looks like it did previously exist but was deleted because it linked only to the search results: see Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2021_December_11#Template:IMDb_company. //Lollipoplollipoplollipop::talk 14:32, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
