Template:Course assignment

[edit]

Looks like that's an accidental(?) but pointless fork of this one. I think it can be replaced with a call to this template.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  09:08, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Does this need to be raised at WP:TFD? — SMUconlaw (talk) 19:58, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can we add

[edit]

Functionality to link to external sites, namely dashboard, like ? I tried to do this but the link is broken, see . --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:35, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki links work. Special:Interwiki says outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org is wmfdashboard: so you can use that. Are assignments ever on sites not run by the Wikimedia Foundation? PrimeHunter (talk) 07:44, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Pinging Piotrus - if the above sorts it out, great! If not, I've written a small module which will just perform a rudimentary check on whether a param is a protocol'd URL or not, and return appropriately, which could be included here. Naypta| ✉ talk page | 10:22, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Naypta: It seems confusing to use the same name as {{Autolink}} which does something different. And we already have {{Linked}} which detects if the argument is already linked. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:07, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@PrimeHunter: Ah, brilliant - I didn't know about {{linked}}, sorry! Although, having said that, doing the entire thing in wikitext there hurts my head to look at I might suggest that we turn that template into a module call, but I'll move it away from Autolink anyway, for the reason you've pointed out. Cheers! Naypta| ✉ talk page | 11:13, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@PrimeHunter: re "re assignments ever on sites not run by the Wikimedia Foundation?" It is probably rare, but possible. Not that I can think of any example right now, these days the dashboard is all the vogue. For now I will use the interwiki link, thanks! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:16, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of this template or placing it as a talk page post

[edit]

Can this template be deleted or placed as a talk page post similar to Template:Course assignment? I found one on the talk page of Cognition that was 13 years old that said that it was part of a current assignment. Rolluik (talk) 16:40, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

It was mentioned in this template for discussion but seemingly the only one that wasn't taken care off. Rolluik (talk) 16:51, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit request to complete TfD nomination

Template:Educational assignment has been listed at Templates for discussion (nomination), but it was protected, so it could not be tagged. Please add:

{{subst:template for discussion|help=off}}

to the top of the page to complete the nomination. Thank you. Rolluik (talk) 16:28, 9 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Broken?

[edit]

I tried to add this template to Talk:Wingdie Didi Bertrand Farmer but the link to the dashboard for the course didn't work - is the template broken at present?

This is the failing version - if you click on the link shown as "1" (which ought to say "here", and appears in two lots of brackets), it tries to link to a URL which has "|here" appended, and fails. I commented out the templated message, and left a manual version, here. PamD 14:43, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

To editor PamD: this seems to be a /doc problem. Looking at the code, if the |link= parameter is changed to |elink=, then it should work properly. I'll update the documentation. P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  18:54, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, on the Talk:Wingdie Didi Bertrand Farmer page, there is a superfluous equal sign after the date that should be removed. P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  19:18, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
