Problem with "explain=" parameter
[edit]The "explain=" parameter in this template doesn't seem to be working. I added a "clarify span" template with an "explain=" parameter, but the text of the explanation was ignored and the default value ("clarify") was used instead. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 19:21, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

Works for me The generated HTML (for the whole tag as used in that article) is and that<sup class="noprint Inline-Template Template-Clarify" style="margin-left:0.1em; white-space:nowrap;">[<i><a href="/wiki/Wikipedia:Please_clarify" title="Wikipedia:Please clarify"><span title="translation?">clarify</span></a></i>]</sup>
title="translation?"attribute causes my browser (Firefox) to display it as a tooltip when I hover the mouse pointer over the link. Difference between tm:clarify and tm:clarify span is unclear.
[edit]What is the difference between {{clarify span|text=foo|explain=bar}}, rendering as foo[clarification needed], and {{clarify|text=foo|reason=bar}}, rendering as foo[clarification needed], other than "clarify" versus "clarification needed"?
