Usage

The {{WikiProject Animation}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. This template automatically adds articles to Category:WikiProject Animation articles. The full syntax as it follows:

Parameters

General parameters:

importance – valid values are listed in the custom importance mask. See the project's importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |importance= blank or omit the parameter.
attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
- This parameter populates Category:Animation articles needing attention.
needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
- This parameter populates Category:Animation articles needing infoboxes.
needs-image – set |needs-image=yes if the article requires an image or photograph, which should be added per guidance and per fair use.
- This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested images of animation.
- image-details – (appears only if |needs-image=yes is set) Additional details to describe the image that is requested.
unref – set |unref=yes if the article requires additional references.
- This parameter populates Category:Unreferenced animation articles.
cleanup – set |cleanup=yes if the article requires a general cleanup. Please detail what aspects of the article require clean-up on the article's talk page, otherwise the tag can be removed without redress to the problems.
- This parameter populates Category:Animation articles needing cleanup.
fiction – set |fiction=yes if the article requires rewriting to maintain an out of universe approach per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction).
- This parameter populates Category:Animation articles that need to differentiate between fact and fiction.
category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Reviews and collaborations:

A-Class – set |A-Class=current, |A-Class=pass or |A-Class=fail if the article indicates the status of the article's A-Class review.
collaboration-candidate – set |collaboration-candidate=yes if the page is a candidate to be the project collaboration.
- This parameter populates Category:Animation collaboration candidates.

current-collaboration – set |current-collaboration=yes if the page is currently the project collaboration.
- This parameter populates Category:Current animation collaboration.

past-collaboration – set |past-collaboration=yes (or any non-blank value other than "no", "n", "0" or "¬", such as the dates it was part of the collaboration) if the page was a past project collaboration.
- This parameter populates Category:Past animation collaboration.

Portals:

portalX-name – if the article has been selected for use on a portal, the name of that portal. The name should be given without any formatting or namespace prefixes; thus, Portal:Animation is given as "|portal1-name=Animation". Up to five different portals may be specified, via the parameters portal1-name through portal5-name.
portalX-link – the portal subpage location where the article may be found on the corresponding portal. This should be given as a pure unlinked subpage name; thus, Portal:Animation/Selected article/6 is given as "|portal1-link=Selected article/6".

film – set |film=yes if the article is supported by the Animated films work group.
- This parameter populates Category:Animated films work group articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Animated films articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
- film-importance (only used if |film=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Animated films work group

television – set |television=yes if the article is supported by the Animated television work group.
- This parameter populates Category:Animated television work group articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Animated television articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.

The parameter |American= is recognised as an alias for |american=. If both |american= and |American= are present, |American= is ignored.

The parameter |Asian= is recognised as an alias for |asian=. If both |asian= and |Asian= are present, |Asian= is ignored.
