Template:PAGENAME/doc
 | This is a documentation subpage for Template:PAGENAME. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
 | This page in a nutshell: Never write {{PAGENAME|argument}}. Write {{PAGENAME:argument}} instead. |
 | This template should have no transclusions. This is because it is a replacement to prevent breakage if editors attempt to invoke the magic word of the same name using a pipe instead of a colon. |
Usage
[edit]The magic word {{PAGENAME}} is described at Wikipedia:Magic words#Parser functions. An example of its output is:
{{PAGENAME:Template:Example/with/subpages}}→ Example/with/subpages
If placed on this page without arguments:
{{PAGENAME}}→ PAGENAME/doc
This template should never be used, but when someone uses the magic word "PAGENAME" with a piped parameter, it will prevent breakage. Parameter 1 will be used as the : parameter, other parameters will be discarded.
Tracking category
[edit]The page will be added to the hidden category:
