Template:LCDB/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Description

[edit]

This template creates an external link for a given minor planet to Brian D. Warner's Light Curve Data Base (LCDB) at www.minorplanet.info, which follows the ALCDEF-specification (see "The Asteroid Lightcurve Data Exchange Format Standard", documentation). As of 2018, the LCDB contains photometric data, in particular, lightcurve measurements, for approximately 16,000 minor planets.

Usage

[edit]
  • The 1st parameter is for the minor planet's number (use 0 if unnumbered)
  • The 2nd parameter is for the minor planet's provisional designation (use only if unnumbered)

Examples

[edit]
For 1222 Tina (numbered), use
  • {{LCDB|1222}} – This produces the following external link → LCDB
For 2004 XP14 (unnumbered), use
  • {{LCDB|0|2004+XP14}} – This produces the following external link → LCDB

Notes

[edit]
  • Provisional designations: spaces must be replaced with + or with %20 (see examples below).
  • The 2nd parameter is optional for numbered minor planets, but required for unnumbered bodies, since their number part is always zero.
  • For custom designated LCDB-entries are formatted identically, i.e. use {{LCDB|0|Derm4c}} to produce a link to "Derm4c" (LCDB).
  • The target website at LCDB uses a non-UTF-8 encoding format. This makes the use of the magic word {{urlencode:}} impossible.
