This template is intended to be used for articles about First Nations governments in Canada (i.e. Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation) and not their reserves (i.e. Shoal Lake 39). Although many of its fields are only applicable for band governments that have Government of Canada recognition, such as the official band number, recognition is not a necessary condition of use. For the template used by Indian reserves, see Template:Infobox settlement.

  • |embed= - Set to true if this infobox is embedded in another infobox
  • |band_name= - The band name, automatically included in the infobox title
  • |band_number= - The band number, automatically included in the infobox title
  • |endonym= - The preferred or Indigenous-language name of the band, if applicable (displayed as italics by default).
  • |image= - The image to display in the infobox, preferably an official insignia
  • |caption= - A caption for the image
  • |map=- Another image slot, preferably for a map showing the FN's territory (traditional or modern)
  • |map_caption= - A caption for the map
  • |coordinates= - The relevant coordinates. Use {{Coords}}
  • |people= - The ethnic group of the FN (example: Cree)
  • |treaty= - The most relevant historical or modern treaty signed by the FN (examples: Treaty 8, Nisga'a Final Agreement)
  • |headquarters= - The location of the FN's administrative headquarters
  • |province= - The FN's province, will automatically process territory names as input too
  • |main_reserve= - The name of the main reserve, if applicable
  • |reserve= - The name of all other reserves, use * syntax
  • |area= - The total area of all reserves. Be sure to use {{Convert}}
  • |pop_year= - The date associated with the provided population counts
  • |on_reserve= - The population on reserves owned by the band
  • |on_other_land= - The population on reserves owned by other bands, or on Crown land leased by the band, etc.
  • |off_reserve= - The population not living on any kind of reserve or territory officially associated with the band
  • |total_pop= - The total population of the band (use if on/off reserve populations aren't known or automatic addition isn't working)
  • |chief= - The name of the current chief
  • |council_size= - The size of the council
  • |council= - A list of names of councillors, use * syntax
  • |tribal_council= - The associated tribal council (if any)
  • |language= - Languages spoken by the group
  • |website= - A link to the official website
  • |footnotes= - A citation, probably to the band's INAC profile
  • |module= - Set as another infobox to embed it into this infobox

Pushpin map

Below are the parameters used by Module:Location map to produce the pushpin map in this Infobox. These parameters are available for editors to set in articles that use this infobox. For the maps available, please consult available maps.

Parameter Description Default
|pushpin_map= The map(s) to display. For example, specifying England will use the values for England in Module:Location map/data/England.Multiple maps can be shown by providing a list of map names separated by #. For multiple maps, the first is shown by default. A reader can select the others with radio buttons. N/A
|pushpin_caption= The text of a caption to be displayed below the map. If not provided a default caption will be generated. Multiple captions can be shown when separated by ## (that's two). Location within MAPNAME
|pushpin_relief= 0/false/off will cause the template to display the map defined as image (generally not a relief map). 1/true/on will cause the template to display the map defined as image1 (generally a relief map). Any non-zero numeric value such as 2 or 3 will display image2 or image3, if those images are defined. Any other non-empty value will cause display of image1. See the example at Location map+/relief. 0
|pushpin_label= The text of the label to display next to the identifying mark; a wikilink can be used. You can enclose the label inside of {{nowrap}} if you want to make sure that it stays on a single line. N/A
|pushpin_label_size= The font size to use for the label, given as a percentage of the normal font size (<100=smaller, >100=larger); the default size is 90. Do not include %. For example, use |pushpin_label_size=80, not |pushpin_label_size=80%. If set to 0, the label is only displayed when the user hovers over the mark. 90
|pushpin_label_position= The position of the label relative to the identifying mark; valid values are left, right, top, bottom and none. This defaults to either left or right, depending on the coordinates of the marker and its position relative to the right border of the map image. When |pushpin_label_position=none, any defined label will not be displayed with the mark, but it will be used to create the default caption. N/A
|pushpin_mark= The name of an image file to display as the identifying mark; the default is Red pog.svg . See examples at Commons:Location markers and Commons:Category:Map icons. Red pog.svg
