Template:Handbook of Texas/doc

This is an imdb-like template, used for Wikipedia:Template messages/Links to an entry at the Handbook of Texas.

Usage

The template requires one argument, a page id; ideally, the template should also include the article name. If the URL for the Handbook of Texas entry looks like:

• https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fau14

then the corresponding version using the template looks like:

• {{Handbook of Texas | id=fau14 | name=Stephen Fuller Austin}}

as can be seen here:

• Stephen Fuller Austin from the Handbook of Texas Online

If the URL for the Handbook of Texas entry omits the ID and looks like:

• https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/austin-stephen-fuller

then the ID can be recovered by going to the citation tab and checking the TID entry which looks like:

• TID: FAU14

The ID is not case-sensitive.

If <name> is omitted, the pagename will be used.

• {{Handbook of Texas | id=fau14 | name=Stephen Fuller Austin| author=Eugene C. Barker| date=December 1, 2000| retrieved=January 31, 2001}}

expands to:

• Eugene C. Barker: Stephen Fuller Austin from the Handbook of Texas Online (December 1, 2000). Retrieved January 31, 2001.
