Template:Dlmf/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Purpose

[edit]

This template adds an external link to an article in https://dlmf.nist.gov, the Digital Library of Mathematical Functions.

Parameters

[edit]

All parameters are optional.

{{dlmf
 | title=
 | id=
 | last=
 | first=
 | author-link=
 | last2=
 | first2=
 | author2-link=
 | display-editors
 | ref=
}}
  • title (or article): Title of the article
  • id: The chapter number, which is part of the url. For example, chapter 5 https://dlmf.nist.gov/5 on the Gamma function would have id=5
  • last (or last1): The first author's surname or last name.
  • first (or first1): The first author's first or given name(s).
  • author-link (or author1-link): Title of an existing Wikipedia article about the first author.
  • last2, The second author's surname or last name, if applicable.
  • first2, The second authors' first or given name(s), if applicable.
  • author2-link: Title of an existing Wikipedia article about the second author, if applicable.
  • display-editors: Specify a number to shorten the displayed list of editors to that number, et al.
  • ref: the citation's HTML anchor identifier, when different from its default. When set, |ref=ID generates an anchor with the given ID (the id= attribute in the citation's <cite id="ID"> HTML tag). Setting |ref=ID identifies the template as a target and allows wikilinking to full references, especially useful with short-form citations like shortened notes and parenthetical referencing. The default anchor ID is suitable for use with {{sfn}} and {{harv}} templates. Since April 2020, the parameter / keyword pair |ref=harv has no special meaning; this deprecated setting should not be used and may be removed from existing cs1|2 templates. To inhibit anchor ID creation, set |ref=none. Aliases: none. See Template:Citation/doc § Anchors for Harvard referencing templates.

Examples and usage

[edit]
  • {{dlmf|authorlink=Richard Askey|first=R. A.|last= Askey|first2= R.|last2= Roy |id=5 |title=Gamma function}}

produces

  • Askey, R. A.; Roy, R. (2010), "Gamma function", in Olver, Frank W. J.; Lozier, Daniel M.; Boisvert, Ronald F.; Clark, Charles W. (eds.), NIST Handbook of Mathematical Functions, Cambridge University Press, ISBN 978-0-521-19225-5, MR 2723248.

It is also possible to link to subsections, formulas, and so on, by changing the id parameter as follows:

See https://dlmf.nist.gov/help/cite for more details.

The {{harv}} templates can be used to produce internal links to the citation in the usual way.
