GC Electronics

[edit]

The GC Electronics "About us" link on their website says that the company changed its name from "General Cement Manufacturing Company” to "GC Electronics" in 1959, which contradicts the information given in the article. Therefore I've added a "citation needed" template. --Greenbreen (talk) 15:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Call sign

[edit]

The call sign in this article should use a slashed zero, not "0".

I followed a link from this article to his obituary . He led a very interesting and useful life. If anyone reading this note is interested enough, he may be notable enough for his own article.

I commented there, saying "His obituary refers to his call sign, saying, “… call sign W?GFQ.” The question mark shown as part of his call sign should be a slashed zero, which was commonly used by amateur radio people and shows up in handwritten entries on QR cards. It is not recognized or displayed correctly in many fonts. Entered in this obituary text box, it displays as a regular zero. It looks somewhat like the Greek letter Phi (φ), the null set symbol (∅), the symbol for diameter (⌀), or a letter used in some European languages (Ø). (Some of these symbols may not display correctly here either.)" Hjal (talk) 23:10, 2 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

This 1947 map by WRL puts them in Council Bluffs earlier than the 1950s.
