Relevance

[edit]

I don't think the following passage is relevant, considering that "Die Prinzen's" popularity outside Germany (or German speaking countries) is possibly marginal:

Winnetou is mentioned as one of the 'Best Friends' of the singer in Die Prinzen's song Mein Bester Freund.

I think this article is put in the wrong categories. In my opinion it mainly belongs in a category like "German culture", and it is very relevant as such. Greetings from Germany to all Americans, native or not. --akf --188.100.185.0 (talk) 11:35, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Definitely the wrong categorty. 2003:DF:3BC6:5600:414E:E857:AFDC:7D5B (talk) 17:16, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Racism

[edit]

I don't know how to post this, because you need secondary literature as sources, but it should be mentioned that the Winnetou-novels have a very critical perspective on 19th century colonialism in general and paricularly US politics toward the native population (i.e.genozide), which was definitely unusual for 19th century authors. 2003:DF:3BC6:5600:414E:E857:AFDC:7D5B (talk) 17:13, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
