Magna Carta

My understanding is that the word 'the' isn't required when referencing Magna Carta. So, should it be removed from the single reference on this page? Random56653 (talk) 01:15, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

I'm quite new to editing, and I don't think I understand why removing 'the' changes whether something becomes a title and thus has to be be in italics. Of the many pages that link to Magna Carta, some have it italics, some don't. Many thanks for any help you can give me. Random56653 (talk) 02:00, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Titles of works#Neither, 'Legal or constitutional documents' should not be in italics. Does that mean that Magna Carta should not be in italics, as it's a royal charter? Random56653 (talk) 17:39, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

According to https://www.parliament.uk/about/living-heritage/evolutionofparliament/originsofparliament/birthofparliament/overview/magnacarta/ and https://www.parliament.uk/about/living-heritage/evolutionofparliament/originsofparliament/birthofparliament/overview/magnacarta/magnacartaclauses/ Magna Carta doesn't use the word 'the'. William IV and his children with Dorothea Jordan

William IV is known to have died in Windsor Castle. It is also known he had taken his children with Dorothea Jordan into custody and resided with them. Edward VIII

It has been claimed that Edward VIII adopted the title Duke of Windsor on his abdication. Did he adopt it or was he granted the title by his brother. Such titles are usually in the gift of the reigning monarch. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:14, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
