Discussion: Reintroducing NexDock Mention

[edit]

Hello everyone,

I'd like to propose adding back a brief mention of NexDock in this article. I understand it was previously removed due to concerns about notability and conflict of interest. I am the founder of NexDock and have disclosed this on my user page. However, I believe NexDock provides important context for how Windows Continuum was utilized with external lapdock devices, so I’d prefer to discuss it here first rather than editing directly.

Rationale for Inclusion:

  • Windows Continuum Support (2016): NexDock was introduced in 2016 as a lapdock for Windows phones running Windows 10 Mobile and supporting Continuum.[1]
  • While I acknowledge my bias as the founder, independent reviewers and users have noted NexDock’s role in demonstrating how Windows Continuum could drive a laptop-like experience, allowing phones to power a full keyboard and display setup.

Suggested Content:

“In 2016, NexDock introduced a lapdock specifically designed to work with Windows Continuum, enabling smartphones to function as the core of a laptop-like experience.”

I’m open to any feedback on how best to present this information in a neutral, verifiable way. Please let me know your thoughts or if you’d prefer a different approach. My goal is to ensure we adhere to Wikipedia’s guidelines on verifiability, notability, and maintaining a neutral point of view.

I disagree with this proposed addition - Wikipedia is not a venue to list or promote products in this fashion, and the supplied sources to not establish that this product is 'important context' or of historical significance. MrOllie (talk) 21:28, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Would adding an image like File:Microsoft logo (2012).svg enhance the presentation of this page and be fitting for its context? Issac I Navarro (talk) 19:20, 1 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
