"Some components open source"
[edit]The "Source model" row of the infobox currently describes Windows 11 as "Some components open source", with citations showing that Windows Terminal, Windows Calculator, Windows Driver Frameworks, and Windows Forms are released under open-source licenses. When there are well over 100 Windows components listed in List of Microsoft Windows components, Template:Microsoft Windows components, and Category:Windows components, nearly all of which are closed-source, noting "Some components open source" to highlight four of these components is undue weight in the infobox. I support removing this line from the infobox. — Newslinger talk 07:49, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Version 26H1 is not the latest for all hardware platforms
[edit]In table Windows_11 #Versions the version 26H1 is marked as "latest" (green). This is true for ARM devices. For most users, however, 25H2 is still the latest because 26H1 is not available for their CPU (x86_64). Not sure how varying platform support is handled for other software in Wikipedia. I think the current table is confusing and suggest that 25H2 and 26H1 should both be marked greed. A footnote or extra column could indicate the respective hardware platform support. --~2026-19672-45 (talk) 11:40, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- 26H1 is absoutely available for x86 CPUs. I'm typing this comment on an x86 laptop running 26H1. ~2026-52035-70 (talk) 20:09, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
K2
[edit]Windows K2 is supposed to be an internal Microsoft push to realign Windows 11 more closely with what users want: link. It's interesting, but I'm not quite sure where to stick this in the article. We've got a section about updates, which seems like the obvious place to put it at first thought, but you'd have to talk about gaming performance and scaling back AI features, which are only discussed in the reception. Thinking about it a bit more, perhaps the K2 initiative could be discussed in the reception section because it's reportedly a response to consumer dissatisfaction. Any ideas? If nobody says anything, I think I'll probably add a line to the reception, but rewriting the updates section to be a little more informative could also work. I am making a request to edit this page because I saw that the build numbers and dates were outdated. For example, I would change 10.0.26300.8772 to 10.0.26340.9233 (learn.microsoft.com page for Windows 11 Build 26340.9233) Adamya8 (talk) 11:51, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
Change for the latest preview version strings
[edit]This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
I am writing this request because some of the version strings in the "Latest preview" string were outdated. For this, I'd like to change in the beta (25H2) entry in the latest preview topic from
- 10.0.26220.8764 (July 6, 2026)
To
- 10.0.26220.9223 (August 21, 2026)
Source: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-insider/release-notes/beta/preview-build-26220-9223
Also, I'd like to change the experimental channel for Future Platforms from
- 10.0.29621.1000 (July 26, 2026)
To
- 10.0.29648.1000 (August 17, 2026)
