Is there some Wikipedia reason why "William Strunk, Jr." redirects here, rather than the other way around?  AnnaKucsma – (Talk to me!) 17:48, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Professor of English

[edit]

Evidently Strunk was a specialist in English language (we say morphology, philology). Was he a "professor of English language" as we imply by the lead sentence link, English?

I specified English literature in the hidden template {{Persondata}} because Library of Congress specifies that (now one External link) but I don't consider that conclusive.

In the book article we imply "professor of English studies" by the section 1 lead link, English.

Error with the formatting of a note

[edit]

On the note about his Phi Beta Kappa membership, whoever cited it originally cited it as if "Phi Beta Kappa" is a person's name, not an organization's.

I found that this format might be more accurate:

Phi Beta Kappa (1912), A catalogue of the Cornell chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (Theta of New York): 1882-1912, retrieved 26 April 2026 ~2026-25394-93 (talk) 04:54, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
