No evidence of being a depression-era food

[edit]

None of the links provide actual evidence that this food was popular during the great depression. There are also no known depression-era cookbooks that have a recipe for water pie. The idea that water pie was a popular dessert during the great depression seems to be an example of narrative fallacy. ~2025-32058-00 (talk) 00:27, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

not resurgent during COVID-19

[edit]

the section that talks about it being resurgent during COVID-19 points to an article that specifically said it was the topic of two individual videos from two different influencers.

it would be more accurate to say there was a correlated fascination with it during COVID that had more to say about the boredom experienced at that time vs it being a dish rising in popularity for the sake of consumption due to hard times. Drewbruggman (talk) 18:43, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
