Unfamiliar terminology

the tenors follow the scale down to an E-flat 4, and the bass support with the submediant of the relative major.
is hard to interpret. Is E-flat 4 the fourth degree of that scale, ie A-flat, or a chord with a suspension, or a fourth above B-flat? Submediant implies (to me at least) a harmonic construction, but you dont seem to mean the basses are divided, and isnt the submediant of the relative major the same as the relative major of the submediant, ie the tonic?Sparafucil (talk) 05:25, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks, a picture is worth a thousand words! "E-flat 4" can be written E4♭; the extra space fooled me into thinking you meant something else entirely. I favor always linking to Scientific pitch notation on the first appearance in an article, as there are a few other letter+number pitch-naming conventions.
