Number built

[edit]

Simpson's General Aviation has different build number to that qouted in article:

  • WA-40 52 built (article has 2+50) which agrees
  • WA-40A 57 built, article has 40 and 40A total as 180 = 128 40As
  • WA-41 58 built, article has 60 built.
  • WA-4/21 30 built, article has 25 built.

Total 197 v total 265, anybody have another source ? MilborneOne (talk) 15:02, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just to contradict itself Simpson says the 40/40A/41 construction number run from 1 to 168 which is one more than quoted above. And 4/21 construction number ran from 401 to 430. MilborneOne (talk) 15:10, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
The figures of 180,25 and 60 from the 71 Jane's are all "by the beginning of 1970", with the strong impression given that production of the WA-40 & WA-40A had ceased (referring to the 70-71 edition for details). From the Flight archive, it looks like production of the WA-41 and WA-4/21 ended in 72-72. It's possible that there could be some double counting in the 180 figure.Nigel Ish (talk) 16:08, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
