A series of studies coming out of the University of Michigan in the 1950s and 1960s argued that many voters lack a basic understanding of current issues, the liberal–conservative ideological dimension, and the relative ideological dilemma that are important to understand when making political decisions.

I question whether increased ignorance of the largely artificial alignment of the party system would be bad for the health of the polity! But that's a question that likely belongs elsewhere. —Tamfang (talk) 18:42, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

The Religious Views section

Although the religious views section tells us about groups that do not vote, and some that do, it doesn't explain why the groups that don't vote don't vote. The Scriptural basis for not voting comes from Torah Law, specifically Deuteronomy 17:14-15 and other New Testament Scriptures that identify our citizenship from heaven such as Philippians 3:20, 2 Corinthians 5:20 and that Yahshua the Messiah, who is to be our example, would never participate in elections. I'm thinking of adding a succinct explanation as to this in the article but let me know if anyone has any feedback. In Citer (talk) 09:13, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
