Then Lance Sergeant Vern Stokes appears in the 1999 Television program 'Battle Stripes' by Carlton Television which follows the Platoon Sergeants Battle course at Brecon in South Wales. In it he makes several mentions of wanting to complete the course as a stepping stone to 'greater things' and a 'healthy career' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNndOdCQ7bQ&list=PLnXhqoHl-IjwJqmtC_yk4heZ6xJgyxzFx&index=6 @ 1:56).
