Updated trustees section

[edit]

Hello-- I'm an Urban Institute employee, and I just updated the board of trustees section to reflect the current roster. Hope that's okay. 192.188.252.112 (talk) 21:15, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Response

Hello. Wikipedia is supposed to be developed from sources which are not written by the subject of the article. Has anyone who has not been paid by the Urban Institute ever written about this organization? By Wikipedia reliable source and verification policies, information in this article which is backed by citations written by the organization itself is presumed to be excessive and promotional, unless some third party has found it interesting enough to put in print themselves. There is some room to bend but usually that happens after collecting and presenting third party sources. Has this organization ever been featured as the subject of any journalism or publication? Liberal yes, undue patient

[edit]
  • Dear IP editor, it will take time to collect the mountain of references that refer to UI as liberal. And Undue is only because I haven't had time to put shtuff in the body. Do please chillax and permit reality to be entered on this page. Tks. • Serviceable†Villain 21:05, 5 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Specific text to be added or removed:
−
Urban Institute's staff of approximately 450 works in several research centers and program areas: the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy; Metropolitan Housing and Community Policy Center; Health Policy Center; the Center on Education Data and Policy; Income and Benefits Policy Center; Housing Finance Policy Center, the Justice Policy Center; the Labor, Human Services, and Population Center, Research to Action Lab, the Office of Race and Equity Research, and a Statistical Methods Group. The institute also houses the Urban Institute – Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center, the National Center for Charitable Statistics and the Urban Institute Press in partnership with Rowman & Littlefield. In 2021, Urban developed a Race and Equity Framework and a Chief Diversity Officer was installed in 2022.
+
Urban Institute's more than 600 staff works in several research divisions and program areas: Family and Financial Well-Being; Health Policy; Housing and Communities; Justice and Safety; Nonprofits and Philanthropy; Race and Equity; Research to Action; Tax and Income Supports; Technology and Data; Upward Mobility; and Work, Education, and Labor.[13] The institute also houses the Urban Institute–Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center, the WorkRise network and Housing Matters.[14][15]
  • Reason for the change:

- The staff directory lists 644 people, not 450. - Urban Institute recently reorganized, dissolving the research centers listed here and creating divisions, as listed on its website under “Research and Evidence.” The “Policy Centers” source link is no longer available. - WorkRise and Housing Matters are primary initiatives. - The source for Urban’s Race and Equity Framework and Chief Diversity Officer is no longer available.
