Disambiguation and additional possible entries for 'Upgrade'

'Upgrade' has wider meaning than just its popular contemporary application to CS. I was looking for a strict definition vis-a-vis stock analysis. There should be a disambiguation description. Use of the word 'or' is ambiguous

The first sentence of the article includes the phrase "with a newer or better version." If the word 'or' is interpreted to be exclusive, then the replacement hardware/software may not be both newer AND better. As a longtime user of computers, I agree with the exclusive interpretation as most times the newer software is not better, just newer. I agree that "or" is often ambiguous; more discussion and various solutions to this problem can be found at "MOS:ANDOR" and "and/or". I also agree that occasionally newer software is not better. --DavidCary (talk) 12:38, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Thing is, upgrade does not imply newer. It does imply better. An upgrade could be to something older. Stevebroshar (talk) 10:50, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

This article is not very good

The topic, 'Upgrade', is not a good one for WP. It's basically about the definition of a word ... better left to a dictionary. But, people never want to delete an article. If it stays, then yes, it applies to more than computer and audio stuff. In fact, it applies to more than 'product' as it's worded today. I'm thinking of changing the wording to 'something'. It's that general. I can upgrade my life. ... after more consideration, maybe it would be good to focus the by renaming to Upgrade (computing) or Upgrade (technology).
