Template
[edit]Wow. These article really needs too be worked on. But so far I think it is good. However, I would like to point out that the template is incorrect, as the flag of the Ottomans is in the wrong place. -Person Who Doesn't Have an Account (just call me P.W.D.H.A) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.133.220.178 (talk) 01:58, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Maps
[edit]There's a map at http://www.zum.de/whkmla/region/arabworld/xasir.html which would be useful here, if someone with a penchant for such things happens across this page. I can provide photocopies with more detailed atlas information as well. I'm not too worried about it until the actual article is written though. Recognizance (talk) 19:05, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Unification date
[edit]A Google Books search shows that Vassiliev definitely has Sept 18 as the unification date, but the majority of sources say it was the 23rd, and besides, Saudi Arabia's National Day is celebrated on the 23rd, so I would think that Vassiliev has it wrong. howcheng {chat} 22:28, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Map of Saudi Yemen Border incorrect
[edit]The map attempting to display the current border is actually the pre-2000 treaty of Jeddah border, see; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Jeddah_(2000) for wiki's own article.
Maintenance Tags
[edit]After fixing the citations, I've concluded that the maintenance tag is ready to be removed. Consensus?
no mention of lawrence?
[edit]i'm surprized to see no discussion of lawrence of arabia or the sikes picot treaty.

The British at that time were not interested in Arab unification, but rather to extend their colonial rule. In the end they tricked the Arabs into supporting their fight against the Ottoman Empire and then betrayed them, setting back their fight for independence.--Cuthbert Bargepole (talk) 05:34, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
Remove unsourced template
[edit]The article seems well-sourced now. I would propose either removing the template or adding inline requests for citations. Chagropango (talk) 02:43, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Requested move 7 August 2026

Unification of Saudi Arabia → Formation of Saudi Arabia – "Unification" implies that an entity known as Saudi Arabia already existed previously, and this campaign only brought it into re-existence. This is not the case, Saudi Arabia was a new invention. The proposed title would be more accurate and neutral. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:33, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose. I don't see how this is different than Germany or Italy. Jessintime (talk) 14:38, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Because the concept of a German people and Italian people existed before the countries themselves did. However, there was no concept of a "Saudi Arabian" people, only a concept of an Arab people. There was also a narrower concept of a gulf Arab, but Saudi Arabia did not unify these people. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:41, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
